Selling on Temu as an Amazon Seller: Requirements, Fees, and Setup (2026)

Already selling on Amazon? Here's how Temu's US local seller program works, what you need to apply, what it costs, and how to get your first sale without hurting your Amazon account.

Short answer: Yes, an Amazon seller can sell on Temu. Temu's US Local Seller Program lets US businesses (and, per Temu's sign-up flow, individuals [VERIFY]) list products that ship from inside the US. The biggest change from Amazon is fulfillment: you ship the orders yourself or through a 3PL — FBA doesn't do it for you. If you already have inventory, listings and a business entity, you can usually apply in under an hour and be live within a few days.

This guide is for people who already sell on Amazon and want to know if Temu is worth adding. It isn't a beginner's guide to ecommerce.

1. Is Temu a fit for your business?

Temu shoppers are price-driven. That shapes everything else.

Good fit if you have:

  • Products under roughly $40 that sell on value, not brand prestige
  • Aged or slow-moving inventory you'd rather sell than pay to store or remove
  • Stock you can ship from a US location (your own warehouse, a 3PL, or garage)
  • Margin room to price slightly below your Amazon price — or products where you don't sell on Amazon at all

Probably not a fit if:

  • Your brand depends on premium positioning or you enforce MAP pricing across retailers
  • All your inventory sits in FBA and you have no plan to move or replenish stock elsewhere
  • Your products are in regulated categories where you don't have the paperwork ready (more on that below)

2. How the US Local Seller Program works

Temu started as a cross-border marketplace: overseas factories selling directly to US shoppers. In March 2024 it opened a Local Seller Program for sellers whose inventory is already in the US. That's the program that matters for Amazon sellers.

How it works in practice:

  • You list your own products in Temu Seller Center, set your own prices and manage your own stock.
  • Orders ship from your US location. You (or your 3PL) pick, pack and ship using carriers such as USPS and UPS. Temu sets handling-time targets; guides report orders must ship within about 48 hours [VERIFY].
  • Temu brings the traffic. It runs heavy promotion to its shopper base, and US local sellers can also reach shoppers in Canada (open to US sellers since December 2025).

Temu says applications take about 10 minutes, approval can come within one business day, and around half of new local sellers make their first sale within 20 days. Those figures come from Temu-sponsored material, so treat them as best case.

3. What you need to apply

If you're already a registered Amazon seller, you likely have most of this.

Item Notes
Seller type Sign-up offers sole proprietorship, corporation, partnership or individual [VERIFY]. Choose carefully. It decides which documents you need and isn't easy to change later. If you sell on Amazon through an LLC, register the same entity.
Business registration Formation documents for your LLC or corporation. Names and numbers must match your records exactly.
EIN and W-9 For business sellers. Individuals use their own tax ID [VERIFY].
Government ID For the owner or legal representative.
US bank account In the same name as the seller account. Mismatches are a common cause of delays.
US ship-from address Your warehouse, 3PL or business address.
Separate email Use a business email that isn't already tied to a Temu shopper account.
Category compliance Same idea as Amazon gating, e.g., CPSC/children's product certificates, FCC for electronics, FDA for some food, cosmetics and supplements. Have the paperwork before you list.

Dropshipping isn't allowed. You need to own and control the inventory you're selling [VERIFY].

4. What it costs

Temu's fees are lower than Amazon's, but published numbers conflict, and Temu has used promotional commission rates for new sellers. Confirm the current fee schedule in Seller Center before you price anything. [VERIFY: get the official US local seller fee sheet from the Temu contact and replace this section with exact figures.]

What third-party guides currently report:

  • Commission: usually reported as a low percentage of the sale price, varying by category [VERIFY exact rate]
  • Monthly fee: some guides report a monthly subscription for business sellers; others say none [VERIFY]
  • Payment processing: may be included in or added to the commission [VERIFY]
  • Shipping and fulfillment: paid by you (your own labor or 3PL fees, plus postage)

Margin check (illustrative numbers only)

Use your real numbers. This example only shows which costs to include. Your commission rate will come from Seller Center.

Amazon FBA Temu (self/3PL fulfilled)
Sale price $25.00 $22.00
Marketplace commission $3.75 (15% referral) $ ___ (current Temu rate)
Fulfillment $5.00 (FBA fee) $___ (3PL pick/pack + postage)
Storage (per unit, monthly share) $0.40 $___ (3PL storage)
Ads (per unit) $3.00 $0 to start [VERIFY whether Temu has seller-paid ads]
Product cost (COGS) $8.00 $8.00
Profit per unit $4.85 $___

The lines that usually decide it are postage and 3PL fees. For small, light products, Temu can beat FBA on margin even at a lower price. For bulky items, it often can't.

5. Fulfillment: the part that trips up FBA sellers

Your FBA inventory lives in Amazon's warehouses, and Temu orders have to ship from somewhere you control. You have three realistic options:

  1. Ship from your own space. Fine for testing with low order volume.
  2. Use a 3PL. Best if you plan to grow Temu. Most 3PLs that already handle Walmart or Shopify orders can connect to Temu, directly or through a multichannel tool [VERIFY integrations].
  3. Amazon Multi-Channel Fulfillment (MCF). Amazon fills orders from your FBA stock for other channels. Check two things first: whether Temu's policies allow it (some marketplaces don't accept Amazon-branded packaging or Amazon tracking [VERIFY Temu's policy]), and whether MCF fees still leave you a margin at Temu prices.

A practical approach many FBA sellers use: keep FBA for your fast movers, and send a slice of inventory to a 3PL or your own space for Temu. Start with aged or slow stock you'd otherwise pay to store or remove.

6. Pricing without hurting your Amazon account

Amazon's Fair Pricing Policy watches prices elsewhere. If your product is much cheaper on another major site, Amazon can remove the Buy Box or suppress your offer. Before you price lower on Temu:

  • Check how big the gap is. A small difference is usually fine. A big, visible undercut on the same listing is a risk.
  • Use different bundles or pack sizes on Temu (a 2-pack vs. Amazon's single, for example). It's not the same product, so prices aren't directly comparable.
  • Use Temu for products you don't actively sell on Amazon, like discontinued variations or overstock.
  • If you sell a brand under MAP, follow the brand's policy. If it's your own brand, decide upfront whether Temu prices could undercut your other retailers.

7. Step-by-step setup

  1. Pick your test products. Choose 5–20 SKUs with clean compliance, light weight and enough margin at a Temu price.
  2. Sort out fulfillment (own space, 3PL or MCF) and confirm what it costs per order.
  3. Gather documents: entity registration, EIN, ID, bank account in the matching name, ship-from address.
  4. Apply at Temu Seller Center. Apply at Temu Seller Center (referral link pending contract) Use a fresh business email and pick the right seller type.
  5. Wait for approval. Temu says this can happen within one business day, though some categories take longer.
  6. Build listings. Reuse your Amazon images and copy as a starting point, but check Temu's image and title rules [VERIFY] and lead with price and practical value. Temu shoppers skim.
  7. Set prices using your margin check from Section 4 and the Buy Box rules in Section 6.
  8. Set handling time and shipping templates so you can actually meet them. Late shipments hurt new accounts fast.
  9. Go live and process your first orders by hand before you automate anything.

8. Your first 30 days

The first few weeks set the tone for your account. Focus on:

  • Getting a first sale quickly. Start with a competitively priced product that's already proven on Amazon.
  • Shipping every order on time. New accounts get the least room for error.
  • Checking real costs after 10–20 orders. Compare actual postage and 3PL costs with what you estimated.
  • Joining Temu promotions only if the price still leaves a margin. Temu will invite you to discounts. Check the numbers first.
  • Making a call at day 30: expand, adjust prices, or stop. Base it on real profit per order, not order count.

9. Common mistakes

  • Choosing the wrong seller type at sign-up, then having to redo verification.
  • Using an email that's already a Temu shopper account.
  • Listing everything at once instead of testing 5–20 SKUs first.
  • Copying Amazon prices without counting shipping to get the true margin.
  • Undercutting your own Amazon listing and losing the Buy Box.
  • Promising handling times you can't meet from your actual location.
  • Ignoring category compliance until listings get pulled.

10. FAQ

Can I sell on Temu if I already sell on Amazon? Yes. Nothing in either platform stops you selling the same products on both. Watch your pricing across channels (see Section 6) and make sure you can fulfill Temu orders outside FBA.

Do I need an LLC to sell on Temu? Temu's US sign-up includes an "individual" option as well as business types [VERIFY]. If you already sell on Amazon through an LLC, register that same entity to keep tax and payouts simple.

Can I use FBA to fulfill Temu orders? Not directly. Amazon Multi-Channel Fulfillment can ship from your FBA stock, but check Temu's packaging and tracking rules [VERIFY] and the MCF fees first.

How much does it cost to sell on Temu? There are no upfront listing fees. Commission varies by category, and some guides report a monthly fee for business sellers. Check current rates in Seller Center [VERIFY]. You also pay your own shipping and fulfillment costs.

How long does Temu seller approval take? Temu says it can be one business day. Some categories need extra review.

Can I dropship on Temu? No. You need to own and ship your inventory [VERIFY].

Can US sellers sell to Canada on Temu? Yes. Since December 2025, US local sellers can reach Canadian shoppers through the program.
